Condemnation of Politicization of Legal Dispute and Unjust Drag of Rt. Hon. Tajuddeen Abbas’ Name into Unrelated Matter The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), the apex and most respected students' body in Nigeria, has observed with deep concern the ongoing controversy surrounding the arrest and prosecution of some individuals over alleged defamatory social media posts related to business and land transactions. While we recognize the right of aggrieved parties to seek legal redress, we are deeply worried about the deliberate politicization of this matter and the unwarranted dragging of the name of the Speaker of the Federal House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Tajuddeen Abbas, into a purely civil dispute. Our Position: NANS has always been at the forefront of defending the rights and interests of Nigerian citizens, particularly the youth. We remain unwavering in our commitment to human rights, democratic ideals, and the rule of law. However, while we...
Abuja, Nigeria – February 8, 2025 In a remarkable display of leadership and compassion, the Minister of Interior, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo , popularly known as BTO, has once again demonstrated his commitment to peace and reconciliation by intervening in the release of Abdulganiy Muhammed, the former Special Adviser on Special Duties to the Governor of Ondo State. Muhammed was recently apprehended by the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) for alleged involvement in a series of criminal activities, including the unlawful use of armed policemen, criminal intimidation, aggravated assault, acts likely to cause a breach of peace, and destruction of lives and property. The youthful and hardworking minister, renowned for his transformative reforms in the Nigerian immigration system, particularly in simplifying the process of obtaining passports, has shown that his leadership extends beyond administrative efficiency Hon. Ojo appealed for the release of Muhammed, expressing confi...
The Arewa Youth for Liberty (AYFL) strongly condemns the recent actions of the Depot and Petroleum Products Marketers Association of Nigeria (DAPPMAN) against the Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals Company. We view this as an act of sabotage and outright hostility toward the Nigerian people, who stand to benefit greatly from the refinery’s efforts to reduce fuel prices and provide massive employment opportunities. Dangote Refinery has invested heavily in the growth and development of Nigeria’s oil sector, including spending over ₦3 trillion to acquire trucks that will ensure nationwide distribution of petroleum products at reduced costs. Rather than commend and collaborate with Dangote Refinery in its efforts to ease the hardship caused by rising fuel prices, DAPPMAN and its allies, including NUPENG, appear determined to frustrate these positive strides. If such hostile actions by DAPPMAN continue, AYFL will have no option but to resist and confront any individual, group, or...
