ELRUFA'I MORE COMMITTED TO TAKING YOUTHS ALONG IN GOVERNANCE
|Opinion politics|: by Moh'd Sani Ishaq
On Saturday 15th September, 2018 thousands of young people within and outside Kaduna state gathered in the state capital at Umaru Musa Yar'Adua Hall, for an Emerging APC Young Leaders Summit which helps shape the future of young leaders in relation to breaking barriers to their leadership skills.
Kaduna Youth Summit is what some of us personally dreamt of, because we've confidence in our Youthful diversity as a tool for peace, unity and progressive agenda irrespective of our political ideologies, and I've been an advocate of responsible youth involvement in good governance, said comr. Mohd Sani Ishaq (Youth advocate/Political strategist)
He went further to critically analyze the positive impact the summit achieved, as Every young generation contributes to the development of their society, state and country at large, Kaduna state has not been exceptional, and our generation will not be too. Through politics, youths can play active roles in Good Governance across all ramifications.
Mohd Sani Ishaq like his other Youth advocates believe strongly that Governor Mal. Nasir Ahmad Elrufai is more than committed enough to taking Youths along in governance, as he's done talking, he's now acting. Looking at the vast percentage of youths engaged in governance since from the inception of elrufai's administration which stands out one of the highest in Nigeria.
Analysing further and looking at the impact of the summit which was organised by the state government to break the barriers to youth leadership in the state.
The gathering provided an avenue for the youth (APC) to discuss challenges and chart a course for a better tomorrow as outlined by Muhammad Abdullahi, Commissioner, Planning and Budget Commission, at the opening of the summit.
He further detailed that; “The summit was organised to bring youth, young professionals and emerging leaders together to discuss societal issues with a view to bring positive change in their communities.
"It is geared towards giving APC youth a platform to hear, learn, engage and collaborate with young professionals on leadership, decision making, and advocacy campaigns for societal change and development,’’ Muhammad Sani dattijo continued.
However; Mohd sani Ishaq dispute the insinuations from some quarters that the summit is purely a jamboree aimed to score cheap political points by the organizers and hence outlined that; considering the approach of 2019 General elections, every good development initiative is bound to look politically motivated in its entirely.
Undisputably, Elrufai as a governor of Kaduna state in three years have provided a safe civic space for the youth to participate freely in the political process without hindrances. Emphasising that; for him personally he's not surprised that some people who didn't welcome the idea of the summit and foresee it as a threat to their political survival.
Anyone interpreting the program as a clear tool aimed at using the few youth the Kaduna state government has empowered to call for support by using a more politically inclined campaign strategy as this summit; is a good development because they agreed to the submissions that Elrufa'i has empowered more youths in governance than any governor in the history of Kaduna state and Nigeria in some angles.
The organizers of the summit deserves an accolade, while Elrufa'i deserves a second term in continuation of his youth empowerment in governance.
Finally; As a youth advocate, passionate about peaceful coexistence, unity and youth Progressive agenda; I'm of the suggestion that relevant political actors, stakeholders and youth advocates should see the APC youth summit as an avenue towards the actualization of a mega Kaduna youth summit, where by all youths and political stakeholders irrespective of political ideologies shall come to terms in discussing political matters in relation to youth leadership ideals and good governance in general.
God bless Nigerian Youths!
