Yobe gov’ship: APC chieftains, groups urge aspirants to support Mai mala Buni

Chieftains of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Yobe State have urged other aspirants in the state to accept the position taken by stakeholders and endorsement of APC National Secretary, Alhaji Maimala Buni, as the preferred successor to Governor Ibrahim Gaidam.
They said every aspirant has the right to contest the primaries “just as we have the right to defeat him.”
Governor Ibrahim Gaidam had at a youth programme on Saturday, announced his preference for the APC scribe saying he arrived at the decision because he was mandated by the party stakeholders to do so after he told them to produce a credible personality that would succeed him.
Hon. Ismaila Gadaka, member representing Fika/Fune Federal Constituency, said the party stakeholders unanimously resolved mandating Governor Ibrahim Gaidam to produce a successor that would continue with the development agenda of the state.
“I was at the meeting; we collectively mandated Governor Gaidam to endorse his successor and we absolutely agree with his choice of the national secretary to be the party’s flag bearer in the 2019 election,” he said.
Alhaji Aji Bularafa, another chieftain of the party, said the endorsement of Maimala Buni by Governor Gaidam was a reflection of the collective position of all the party stakeholders.
He said the decision was taken in the best interest of the state to improve on the achievements recorded in health care, education, road construction and other social services.
Bularafa therefore called on the leadership of the party to reach out to other aspirants to settle for Maimala Bunu as consensus candidate of the party.
On his part, Nura Dalhatu, secretary of Yobe Active Peoples Alliance for Good Governance and Development, said Buni’s choice was a sign of continuity, noting that Yobe had excelled as the state that spoke with one voice when it comes to political matters.
“Maimala Buni has local and national touch; he is a detribalised politician who lives in peace with everyone. We are sure Governor Gaidam will have a worthy successor in him,” he said.
