BRIEF BIOGRAPHY OF THE NEW CJN Justice Ibrahim Tanko Muhammad was born on December 31, 1953 at Doguwa - Giade, a local government area in Bauchi State, Northern Nigeria. He attended Government Secondary School, Azare where he obtained the West Africa School Certificate in 1973 before he later proceeded to Ahmadu Bello University Zaria where he received a bachelor's degree in Law in 1980. He later obtained a Master and Doctorate (Ph.D) degree from the same university in 1984 and 1998. Tanko began his law career in 1982, after he was Call to the bar in 1981, the same year he graduated from the Nigerian Law School. In 1989, he was appointed as Chief Magistrate of the High Court of Federal Capital Territory, a position he held till 1991 when he became a Judge at the Bauchi State Sharia Court of Appeal. The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Prince Uche Secondus, has revealed why President Muhammadu Buhari allegedly failed to fulfil his promises to Nigerians. Secondus said Buhari failed in job creation; fighting insecurity and surmounting the challenges of corruption because he is too weak to rule a country as complex as Nigeria. The PDP chairman spoke on Monday evening at the MKO Democracy Park in Akure, the Ondo State capital at the party’s rally in the state. Secondus further warned the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, and the Inspector General of Police, IGP, Idris Ibrahim, not to plunge the nation into unnecessary chaos by attempting to rig the election. BREAKING: Buhari shortlists new IG of Police

The presidency has shortlisted an Assistant Inspector General of Police from Nasarawa State as a possible replacement of the retiring Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Idris, who clocks 60 years on Jan. 15, paid “a bye-bye visit’’ to President Buhari on Monday at the Presidential Villa, Abuja. NAN reports that the outcome of the closed-door meeting between President Buhari and the IGP was not disclosed as at the time of filing this report. According to reports, Idris is expected to retire from service on attainment of the mandatory 35 years in service or 60 years of age. A source close to the presidency, who preferred not to be named, confirmed to NAN that a replacement to the retiring IGP would be named on Tuesday, among the shortlisted candidates.
