Kaduna: Former SDP chairmanship candidate defects to APC
A former chairmanship candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Kaduna State, Mallam Ibrahim Tijjani has announced his defection to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Tijjani who was the chairmanship flagbearer of the SDP in Sabon Gari in the recent Local Government election said he took his time and made consultations before reaching the decision.
It would be recalled that the young politician stepped down for the APC candidate build-up to the election.
“I hereby make public my decision to move to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) from the Social Democratic Party (SDP). I've taken my time and made consultations before reaching this important decision,” Tijjani said in a statement issued on Sunday announcing his defection.
“Many of my brothers and friends in the APC have been making moves to attract me to their fold to build our community together as a young leader given that they are in government. So, I've met with important stakeholders of the ruling party in the past few days.
“I believe that by joining the APC I will be able to offer my own modest contributions to my local government, Sabon Gari and our people in relevant capacities. Nothing takes precedence over service to the people. This is why I've decided to answer the call of my brothers in the ruling party to join hands in serving our people and community together,” he added.
“I thank all my political allies and supporters. This is another moment to double down on our efforts and commitment.”
