AREWA YOUTH FOR LIBERTY (AYFL) Condemns DAPPMAN’s Actions, Declares Full Support for Dangote Refinery

The Arewa Youth for Liberty (AYFL) strongly condemns the recent actions of the Depot and Petroleum Products Marketers Association of Nigeria (DAPPMAN) against the Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals Company. We view this as an act of sabotage and outright hostility toward the Nigerian people, who stand to benefit greatly from the refinery’s efforts to reduce fuel prices and provide massive employment opportunities.


Dangote Refinery has invested heavily in the growth and development of Nigeria’s oil sector, including spending over ₦3 trillion to acquire trucks that will ensure nationwide distribution of petroleum products at reduced costs. Rather than commend and collaborate with Dangote Refinery in its efforts to ease the hardship caused by rising fuel prices, DAPPMAN and its allies, including NUPENG, appear determined to frustrate these positive strides.


If such hostile actions by DAPPMAN continue, AYFL will have no option but to resist and confront any individual, group, or organization attempting to sabotage initiatives that directly benefit the Nigerian people.


We further call on the Federal Government of Nigeria to support the Dangote Refinery by ensuring the supply of adequate crude oil for local refining instead of encouraging crude exports, even while Nigeria has some of the most qualitative crude oil in the world. The Dangote Refinery has already created thousands of direct and indirect jobs and has significantly contributed to economic growth. For such an establishment to be unfairly labeled as a monopoly rather than celebrated as a national asset is both unjust and counterproductive.


Finally, AYFL commends Dangote Refinery for its continued reduction in petroleum prices and its dedication to alleviating the economic burden on Nigerians. We urge the refinery to remain steadfast in this course. Be assured that AYFL stands firmly behind Dangote Refinery and will not hesitate to oppose any attempt by unions, groups, or individuals to undermine its operations.
